Dr. David Dolan

Dr. David J. Dolan was raised in Houston through elementary school and then moved to New York City so that his mother could get a PhD at Columbia University.  During that time he read All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot and at that point decided that he wanted to be a veterinarian.  He set that goal in 7th grade and followed that path straight through Vet School.  On the way, he went to a private boarding school in upstate New York that had a private zoo!  He took care of a pair of baby Stump tailed Macaques, a Red Tailed Hawk that was caught in a pole trap and had to have his leg amputated, and bought a Mexican Red Headed parrot named Mike.

He went to Texas A&M University where he earned bachelors degrees in Biology and Animal Science and then was accepted to and graduated from the Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1987.  He practiced in The Woodlands for a short time and then moved to Carrollton and finally back to Houston/Spring in 1988. He bought Companion Animal Hospital in 1993 and made some changes to make it easier for clients to take care of their pets (Open 7 days a week and seeing emergencies for his patients).

Dr. Dolan works with his wife, two daughters, and is periodically helped by one of his granddaughters (as seen in the picture above).   Dr. Dolan enjoys general practice and especially working with his clients.  During his free time he enjoys playing golf and his annual venture to Colorado for the changing of the Aspen leaves in the fall.  He has also enjoyed designing American Animal hospital through the years it has taken to go through this process.
