Dr. David J. Dolan was raised in
Houston through elementary school and then moved to New York City
so that his mother could get a PhD at Columbia University.
During that time he read All Creatures Great and Small by James
Herriot and at that point decided that he wanted to be a
veterinarian. He set that goal in 7th grade and followed that
path straight through Vet School. On the way, he went to a
private boarding school in upstate New York that had a private zoo! He took care of a pair of baby Stump tailed
Macaques, a Red Tailed Hawk that was caught in a pole trap and had
to have his leg amputated, and bought a Mexican Red Headed parrot
named Mike.
